Audra and Mikey on their wedding day

Hi, I’m Audra Kopp, founder of Blessedly Held

Mikey is my husband and my best friend. We dated for five years and married on March 28, 2021.

We are both Christians who believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and He has held us through every season of this story.

A harder road than we expected

I knew I had PCOS before we were married, so I knew having a baby might not come easily. PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) is a common hormone condition that can make ovulation irregular, which often makes getting pregnant harder. Still, we started trying right after our wedding, full of hope.

That hope led us to fertility doctors, daily shots and IUIs. Each treatment cost more than we had, and our credit card debt kept climbing. More than once, we had to stop and wait, not because our hearts were ready to pause, but because our bank account was.

At the same time, we were asking our employer at the time to offer any kind of infertility support. It was a fight that took many tears and just under three and a half years. The benefits were finally approved right after we lost our baby. We never got to use them ourselves, but knowing they now help other families gives that heartbreak a purpose.

Our baby in Heaven

On March 4, 2024, we lost our baby to miscarriage. The world kept moving, but ours stood still. Depression and loneliness followed, and there were days I felt like no one could understand the empty space in my heart.

The hard days

Grief doesn’t follow a calendar. Holidays have been hard, and so have anniversaries. Our baby’s due date fell around the holidays, so it weighed heavy on my heart during a season when everyone expected us to be joyful.

Grief brought triggers too. Everyone has their own, and one of mine was having my photo taken. It was hard for the people around us to understand.

Along the way, we’ve felt anger, grief, sadness and confusion. At times we’ve even wondered who we are now. We’ve had to walk through each of those feelings, one at a time. There are still hard days, but we keep moving forward and trusting the Lord.

Why Blessedly Held exists

I started Blessedly Held so no family has to walk this road alone. It’s a place for community, gentle gifts from the people who love you, and the Remembrance Sky, where every baby can shine. It’s also a place for answers and wisdom from others who truly understand.

We share tips and advice for families and friends who want to support someone who is grieving. We know your heart is big and your intentions are good, and we want to help you love them in the way they need most.

Women in the Bible who waited

When I felt forgotten, I found comfort in the women of Scripture who walked this road before me. In their time, not being able to have a child often brought shame and whispers. Their pain was real, their waiting was long, and God saw every tear.

  • Sarah waited for decades. When God promised her a son in her old age, she laughed, because it seemed impossible. Then God gave her Isaac. (Genesis 21:1–2)
  • Rebekah could not conceive for twenty years. Her husband Isaac prayed for her, and the Lord answered with twins. (Genesis 25:21)
  • Rachel watched her sister have child after child while she waited, and she cried out in anguish. Then Scripture says, “God remembered Rachel,” and she had Joseph. (Genesis 30:22, NIV)
  • Hannah was mocked for years and wept so hard in the temple that the priest thought she was drunk. She poured out her soul to God, and later said, “I prayed for this child.” (1 Samuel 1:27, NIV)
  • Elizabeth was older and had been called barren for most of her life. God heard her prayer, and she became the mother of John the Baptist. (Luke 1:13)

Their stories remind me that waiting is not a sign that God has forgotten us. He was close to them in their sorrow, and He is close to us in ours.

Still hoping

Today, Mikey and I are still trying and praying for our rainbow baby, and we are so thankful for our baby in Heaven. Wherever you are on your journey, whether you are waiting, grieving or both, I’m so glad you’re here. You are seen, you are loved, and you are blessedly held.

With love,
Audra
