Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Galatians 6:2 NIV

Things you can say

  • “I’m so sorry.”
  • “Your baby matters.”
  • Say the baby’s name.

Please avoid saying

  • “God has a plan.”
  • “Everything happens for a reason.”
  • “At least…”
  • “You just need more faith.”

Simple changes that help

  • Don’t make introductions all about kids.
  • On Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, gently name those who grieve.
  • Offer a quiet space and permission to step out.
  • Remember October 15, Wave of Light.

Ways to love on a grieving family

  • Pray for them by name
  • Wash their dishes or tidy up
  • Send a meal or a gift card for food
  • Send a card on hard days, like due dates
  • Gift a Blessedly Held memory item, like a shirt or blanket, to wrap them in love
